DJ88
DJ88 (née Bree DeLano) – a Los Angeles native/Las Vegas transplant – has been DJing for nine years.
Recently awarded Best Las Vegas Female DJ of 2012 by Vegas Seven Magazine, Bree has built quite a resume boasting residencies at the hottest venues in Las Vegas. Aside her DJ residency and title as Entertainment & Marketing Director at downtown Las Vegas’ favorite spot Insert Coin(s), her past residencies include Marquee at The Cosmopolitan and The Palms Casino Resort Casino. Opening for a stellar list of artists including The Roots, De La Soul, Snoop Dog, She Wants Revenge, Damian Marley, and Sean Paul Bree was also the resident DJ for The Hard Rock Hotels “Friday Nite Live” concert series.
During her four year residency at The Palms, Bree was responsible for creating the music format for one their most successful and trailblazing nights, “Snitch” at Ghostbar. As the original resident DJ she curated and introduced a completely different kind of party to Las Vegas in 2010. ”Snitch” became the first of its kind for a casino property to embrace by tossing out the club/top 40 format and bringing an LA/NY feel to Las Vegas. She has now taken that tastemaker vision and infused it in the Insert Coin(s) music programming, booking some of the most talented DJs and artists from around the world holding her own playing right along side them. Bree’s triple threat contribution to Insert Coin(s) assisted in recently awarding the venue “Favorite Downtown Nightlife Spot” at the 2012 Nightlife Entertainment Awards.
Bree’s DJ style is described as cinematic. She is a true open format DJ. On any given night you can find her spinning sultry high energy sets that include electro, hip hop, tech house, moombahton, indie, nu-disco, r&b, neo-soul, soulful house, top 40 and everything in between.
She is celebrated not only for her striking look and personal style, but also for her philanthropic work raising awareness for animal-rescue/adoption awareness. As a personal passion, Bree has raised more than $45,000 for various animal-rescue organizations. She is a brand, and her career is as multi-dimensional as her taste in music.
Sought-after for her exquisite tailor-made playlists, she has become a musical muse curating soundtracks for restaurants, venues, & brands such as Commonwealth, HYDE Bellagio, La Cave at the Wynn Resort (Las Vegas), Curve boutique (LA, San Francisco, Miami, NY), and formerly 9 Steakhouse and NOVE Italiano at the Palms. She has added a new client to this list and will be curating music for the spring/summer 2013 M.A.G.I.C. Fashion/Apparel convention in Las Vegas.
DJing was not Bree’s first run-in with the music industry. Prior to becoming a DJ, the early ‘90s were an epic time for her as she was involved with some of LA’s most memorable parties. In 1996, Bree started managing DJ Adam 12 while working in the soundtrack division at Atlantic Records, resulting in an Associate Producer credit on the critically acclaimed “High School High” soundtrack. She has worked with artists including Redman, Method Man, DMX, Pete Rock, and Lauren Hill. In 2003, her former client DJ Adam 12 was signed to Interscope Records as one half of the electro/dance group She Wants Revenge. Upon his signing, he convinced Bree to DJ by giving her a set of turntables. The rest, as they say…
“True success and longevity come from versatility, It’s all about being a genuine lover of music and having an incredible library of music as your arsenal. Being able to move any crowd off the cuff whether a high end cocktail event or a nightclub is not something every DJ can do. We all have our strengths and weaknesses and versatility has always been my biggest advantage. Right now my focus is on spotlighting that versatility, i.e. DJing the Jean Paul Gaultier opening ceremonies at The de Young museum in San Francisco and then the following week DJing live for De La Soul and Brand Nubian.
This year I’m continuing to expand my brand via special events and traveling as opposed to just Vegas nightclub residencies three to five days a week. It is time for something more, something that I can put my stamp on, create, develop. I’m very excited about my role as Entertainment & Marketing Director at INSERT COIN(S) and my involvement and support of the success of downtown Las Vegas. The next couple of years are going to be the most important of my career and I have no plans to stop DJing either, I wear many hats,…and they’re all cocked to side.”
