EA "Officially" Announces Crysis 3.

Like suggested yesterday, EA “officially” announced Crysis 3 with very early pre-order bonuses.  EA and Crytek have confirmed that New York is going full jungle mode thanks to the the Cell Corporation’s Nanodome.  It’s said that New York will be separated into seven different environments known as the Seven Wonders.

Cevat Yerli of Crytek had this to say in Crysis 3‘s official press release, ”Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love.  Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we’re able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game.”

They’re so excited in fact that they’ve already released details on the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition that grants you early access to that spiffy bow you see in the pic and double xp in multiplayer.  They’ve also  released pre-order bonuses more than a year in advance.

  • Stalker Pack grants you access to the Jackal Shotgun.  A gnarly shotgun with a silencer attachment a’la “No Country for Old Men”.
  • Overkill Pack gives you the Typhoon assault rifle and skin.  The Typhoon is a 500 rounds a second monster apparently.
  • Predator Pack gives you the Feline smg and camo that has an “extremely fast” fire-rate and a 60 round clip.

So I don’t know how effective that bow will be since they said nothing about stalking except for the pre-order pack.  If you had a chance to play Crysis you know that you do have a Stealth ability, but it’s a constant drain on your energy.  Crysis 2 was an underrated title that was beautifully crafted but fell short in some multiplayer aspects.  So I’m assuming EA and Crytek have huge plans for Prophet in their third installment to the series.  A concrete jungle sandbox game by Crytek will be a much needed addition to the fps genre.
