Been a pretty quiet week of video game news this week after everyone got back to post-Comic Con life and settled back into their desks. Just because the video game industry was light on news doesn’t mean there wasn’t exciting things going on in other aspects of entertainment though and I’m here to bring it to you! Friday Free-For-All time.
Arrested Development News!
I’m a huge Arrested Development fan (Yes, even the third season ). I’ve watched every episode multiple times and have tried my best to dissect every easter egg, inside joke, Tobias scene and Steve Holt arm thrust to try and understand each and every line. Some would call this obsessed but to me, it’s just an amazinlgy written show that demands that kind of attention to fully appreciate it. Due to my love for this show, I was obviously heartbroken when Fox decided to cancel it and after four years of a roller coaster ride of emotions, there’s finally confirmation that a new season AND movie are coming!
That’s right, that’s an actual script for a new season straight from Ron Howard’s Twitter. You can’t get more confirmation than that, dudes! Oh and it appears the first episode will center around Michael Bluth. Can’t. Freakin. Wait.
Nick’s Arcade Was Way Ahead Of Its Time
Nick Arcade was a great TV show in the 90s that aired on Nickelodeon that allowed kids to play in a real life video game. I spent many a Saturday evenings yelling at the TV with my siblings because the contestants were just so darn horrible at video games. I think every kid in America has seen at least one episode and said, “Really? I could have done that in two seconds! They suck!” This is especially true during the end sequence when the players actually enter the video game and play against the Wizard.
So it turns out that sequence was actually a lot harder than it looked and Splitsider has an entire article that details the technological advancements that the show dealt with. It was REALLY ahead of its time. CLICK HERE to check out the article and get a look behind the scenes of Nick Arcade.
